DRY-Mat is a 1cm deep supportive spacer layer that creates a ventilation air gap under the mattress allowing condensation to evaporate and prevents Damp, Mould and Mildew from building up; dramatically reducing Fungal and Bacterial growth in and under the mattress.

Having ventilation under mattresses, preventing hygiene problems is a prerequisite to a healthy sleeping environment and a requirement of the Maritime Labour Convention. (MLC)

Benefits of DRY-Mat

Where does all the damp come from?

We all perspire when we sleep, the average male adult will lose 1L of moisture in a full night’s sleep. Much of this enters and permeates the mattress both from sweating and the general humidity that surrounds the body.  When this reaches the relatively cool wooden base under the mattress it condenses and is soaked up by the mattress base. This moisture is then trapped as there is no air flowing over the surfaces to re evaporate it. Without DRY-Mat ventilation it takes about a week for one night’s perspiration to disperse!

Why Does DRY-Mat Work so Well?

Having a layer of DRY-Mat under the mattress works in 2 significant beneficial ways reducing the condensation and Bacterial and Fungal Growth.

1) Even if the bed base is wet the thousands of mono-filament micro-springs will keep the mattress suspended above meaning the mattress itself cannot get damp.

2) As we lie in the bed and warm it up with our bodies so we warm the narrow air gap under the mattress.  Each time we roll over or move on the mattress compressing it the movement pumps and circulates the air through the ventilation gap.  When you have moving warm air under the mattress you no longer have the problem!

How to fit DRY-Mat?

This could not be easier…

The measurements do not need to be precise as DRY-Mat will adapt to fit.  Any significant shaped corners, bulkheads or angled sides can simply be cut with good scissors if needed.

The edges do not need finishing and do not fray.

Once in place DRY-Mat will last many years and does not degrade in normal use.
